Why is WiFi so poor in large or older houses?
Thick masonry, steel frames, foil-backed insulation and sheer distance all kill consumer WiFi, and a single router was never designed to cover a large home. The fix is multiple professional access points on a wired backbone, positioned for the building rather than plugged in where the broadband arrives.
Is mesh WiFi good enough, or do I need wired access points?
Mesh is a patch; wired access points are a cure. Mesh nodes share the same airwaves they serve, so performance drops with every hop. Wired Ruckus access points each deliver full speed, which matters once you add streaming, cameras, calls and a smart home.
Should I put network cabling into my new build or renovation?
Emphatically yes, and early. Structured cabling is cheap while walls are open and painful afterwards. It carries WiFi access points, TVs, cameras and control systems, and it future-proofs the house for decades.
Can you monitor and fix networks remotely?
Yes. Our managed networks phone home, so we often see and fix a fault before you have noticed it. Remote monitoring is included in Living care plans, along with priority response when something needs a visit.
